A Message from KLB

It has come to our attention recently that a blogger that had taken part in one of our Virtual Journey's copied a review that was written by someone else and posted it as her own. When we received word that this was the case, we immediately took down the link to the review and contacted all parties involved to inform them of what had taken place.

We at KLB do not condone this behavior at all. We have faith in any reviewer taking part in our Virtual Journeys will do the right thing and we have taken measures to make sure that this will not happen again.  As a result our selection of reviewers have changed, but this change will ensure that the reviews that are being posted are genuine and original.

KLB is new and as such, things like this were not something we thought would be an issue.

We appreciate honest and originality in all our reviewers reviews and hope that going forward this will remain so. It is what we expect and in return we hope you will expect the same from us as well.

We would also like to take the opportunity to apologize to the author that was involved and again would like to express this is something that will not be tolerated. All parties involved have been contacted and the appropriate actions have been taken. We would also like to thank the other party that has taken measures to ensure that this does not happen on their site as well. There were many people effected as a result.  Thank you and we look forward to providing bloggers and readers with reviews that are real, true, and professional.

Regards,

KLB Virtual Book Journey with Melissa Ecker's Giving up the Ghost: Book Discussion

KLB Discusses Giving up the Ghost by Melissa Ecker....

BELLS: Today we are discussing our latest Virtual Journey, Melissa Ecker's Giving Up the Ghost.
I really felt for Kylie when she lost Jackson.  He seemed like such a loving father and husband and you could just tell that they were his world.  He was Kylie's as well and when he was gone I could totally feel for her.

TIGRISI was emotional through most of this read I did equal amounts of crying laughing and being angry. I just really felt her pain her joy and her self discovery when she realized that Ryan was something more.

BELLS: I really liked Ryan and loved how he stepped up and was there for them.  He was a true friend to Jackson for doing that.  He also cared about them obviously so he was willing to do whatever needed to be done.  I think he and Kylie were meant to be together.  It's just unfortunate that they came together through the death of Jackson.

TIGRIS: It is unfortunate I felt really bad and was secretly rooting for Jackson to come back but the title fits this story perfectly she had to give up the ghost

MISS KITTYI really enjoyed this book because it REALLY showed Kylie's struggle to come back from the dead herself. The love of her life was gone forever but a piece of her had gone with him. NOW it was up to her and her family to make sense out of it all and try to make a go of life without Jackson.

TIGRIS:  Well said Kitty! I think you about nailed the whole meaning of the story there.... Okay so question? I know that Kylie's parents make an appearance towards the beginning but after that they kinda melted into the shadow's, did that deter from the story at all for either of you? Did you feel that something was missing from the family dynamics?

MISS KITTY: The absence of Kylie's folks did strike me as odd at first but then I took a look at my own family...My family (also a police family) is very stand back and only arrive when asked...such as when Kylie calls her father when she thinks someone has broken into her home. Kylie's dad is instantly protective papa bear and calls in the cavalry in the form of Matt and his fellow officers. Other families...like Jackson's are much more actively involved and won't take no for an answer which is also how I think Ryan became such a fixture at their table at such a young age.

TIGRIS:  I never thought of it that way. I guess that could very well be the case. Even so should the mother at least played a major role in the caring of her daughter and grandchild? Just a question? Thought it was strange Jackson's family doted on Abbey and made themselves abundantly available.

MISS KITTY: You would think so. I know I would...Wouldn't be able to keep me away.

Virtual Book Journey: Dead, Undead, Or Somewhere In Between by JA Saare

Photobucket

One bad corpse can ruin your whole day.

No one knows that better than Rhiannon Murphy. She’s left behind the flash and sass of Miami for the no-nonsense groove of New York City, eager for a clean slate and a fresh start. A bartender by trade, a loud mouth by choice, and a necromancer by chance, she’s managed to keep her nifty talent hidden from those around her--until now.

The deliciously good-looking vampire Disco knows her secret, and when he strolls into her bar to solicit help investigating the mysterious disappearances of his kind from the city, she discovers he’s not the kind of person that appreciates the significance of the word no. But in a world where vampires peddle their blood as the latest and greatest drug of choice, it’s only a matter of time before the next big thing hits the market. Someone or something is killing vampires to steal their hearts, and unlike Rhiannon, this isn’t their first stroll around the undead block.

Kylie McAllister has it all until her world is shattered by the death of her husband, Jackson.  After a year of grieving, Kylie uses the proceeds from Jackson's life insurance to purchase a plantation home on the outskirts of New Orleans to begin rebuilding her life with their daughter, Abby.  Confirmed bachelor, Ryan LaCroix, has no intentions of settling down with anyone, let alone his best friend's widow, but somehow Kylie and Abby find their way into his heart.

After discovering an old Ouija board in the attic of her new home, Kylie unwittingly opens a cosmic door to an incubus who pretends to be the dead husband she is so desperately struggling to let go of.  She falls deep under his potent spell of delicious sex and malevolent obsession while he gradually drains her life to fortify his own.  By the time she realizes he's an impostor, she is powerless to stop him.  Together, with Jackson's subliminal guidance and the help of a kind voodoo practitioner, Ryan and Kylie wage a fight for her life against the evil entity.

Alien in the Family Book Discussion

Welcome back to another book discussion between the ladies of KLB.

This time we are discussion Alien In The Family by Gini Koch.  It's book 3 in the Kitty Kat series.

Bells:  AlTF had a lot going on in it.  There is the signal that other aliens would be coming to visit.  The wedding planning between Kitty and Martini.  The lusting after Kitty by Chuckie.  Yeah, he does this throughout the whole book.  All of the family together for the wedding.  The battles, the picking of the dress, the ceremony.  There was a lot.  So what was your favorite part?

Kat :So.... My favorite part out of the whole book is when Kitty grew a pair and kicked the crap out of bitch chick... Again like Capt. Bells said there was a lot going on, and well it was a bit frustrating for me to say the least.. I mean what the hell yo! Does like EVERYBODY and I mean EVERYBODY Alien and HUMAN Alike want Kitty?  I get that Martini thinks she's hot but the whole damn team? There were just too many pieces on the chess board for me to play the game straight...

I did however love Gower/Reader and the new intro of Tito and I kinda had a duh moment when she had the USC Football team guys be a "possible recruit" for Chuckie's Branch.. Did I mention I adored the poofs.. They were cute ♥

Bells: I agree with you Captain Kat.  My favorite part of the book was Reader.  I loved all of his scenes.  I loved the addition of Tito to the storyline.  I hope we get more of him in the future books.

The poofs were adorable and I loved learning more about them.  Who would have ever thought those cute little puffballs would be so important.

Kat: I really hope we do get to visit with other characters in the story and that Gini spot lights them. Are any of you curious as to how the next book will play out?  How about the fact that in a parallel of multi verses Kitty and Reader are some how meant to be together? What happen with that thread of the story? It just seemed like a filler to me? It was never revisited, and the one little inkling that could have produced a kernel of information just deflated? I was intrigued but then strung along... I kid you not I was wondering if there would be a back story to that or some type of follow up. Sadly none. *pouts*

And the Chucky/Kitty creep fest just about made me want to hit Chuckie and Kitty not to mention their family. And why oh why did Martini carry her everywhere like a baby? So not attractive. Like I said there were just too many pieces on the chess board and I for one enjoyed the funny parts. But could have done with out some of the more wordy parts of the story. *dialogue was running  rampant through the entire story*

Larissa:  I have to say I don't agree with both of you in most of it... yeah, there were a lot pieces in the game, but I enjoyed them all...

I really like chuckie and I do hope he gets a grip and moves on from Kitty...
I think the Reader and Kitty meant to be in other planes wasn't a filler but a way to explain why they are so taken and connected to each other. I have the same thing with my BFF, he and I are soul mates, but he is gay... so we just have to accept that whoever we fall in love with we will be each other's number 1.

The Puffs, oh the Puffs were fantastic!

And I can just say that Kitty and Martini as parents will be brilliant LOL

Kat: Well its a good thing that we all have our own opinions LOLOL although I don't think Bells and I were expressing that we didn't like the story over all just that there were so many pieces in the story as a whole. Were the pieces of the story I could have done with out? Yes. Were there parts that I loved? Yes. I can't speak for Bells but I can tell you that I was expecting something a little bit different. Everyone will have their own version of the story and that's what makes reading so much fun. Now the Reader and Kitty thing about them being meant to be together I can see where one would draw that conclusion but again it just seemed like a filler to me. Had we been brought back to discuss that a bit more then I could see it maybe something to the effect that they were meant to be in each other's lives, but the married part? Not so much, I get that we fall in love with people but Kitty and Reader are not in love with one another. I am sure that Kitty and Jeff will be great parents I have no doubt but I really want to visit with other characters in the story. I don't know what else we can expect from Jeff and Kitty besides some parenting?

Larissa:  I see what you mean...

Yeah, I want more form other characters as well... like Christopher and even Chuckie hehe =D

I do think there's more we can get from Kitty and Martini... I mean people are still gonna try to kill them, no? LOL

Kat: Well, one can only hope right? I mean the deal is to save the earth one Fugly at a time so we're all gonna want to know who's up on deck? Fighting and being Parents can be really tough but then again this is Sci-Fi anything is possible.

Bells: It will be interesting to see what is going to happen in the next book.  It'll be interesting to see what new challenges lie ahead for the whole gang.  Curious to see how this will affect Kitty and Martini.

There you have it folks... The Book Discussion we don't always agree and we're not saying not to pick up the book because as mention prior everyone has a different opinion. I think that over all KLB recommends this as a good read. If you have read the books we'd like to hear your thoughts as well.

Don't forget that KLB is giving away the first two books in the series Touched by an Alien and Alien Tango. Along with some great swag! You can read that post HERE:

As if the fate of the world wasn’t enough to deal with, there’s Lucas Rain, King of the East Coast werewolves, who seems to believe he and Secret are fated to be together.
